Theatre inaugurated its February 24, 1985 in Zakopane premiere of "Witkacy Authoparody. Tasteless skit Highlander`s Natives Zakopiańczykom (true?) On '. We wanted to celebrate her hundredth anniversary of the birth of their Patron. The founders are graduates of the Faculty of acting and directing drama of the State Higher School of Theatre in Krakow. United we strive for artistic independence, a desire common to create from scratch the theater open, functioning in alliance with the audience. Theatre created under zasady- "here and now". The desire to strive for truth and rebellion against the dull reality, led to a desire to create here in Zakopane theater arts, metaphysical and necessary. It is no accident so St. I. Witkiewicz (1885-1939) - a mysterious figure, shrouded in legend - painter, playwright, philosopher, theorist of theater, art man, bound for much of the life of Zakopane, was the patron of the place, which is to serve as a cultural center in the tourist town. Creativity and reflection on life Witkiewicz is the main inspiration in shaping the artistic proposals Zakopane Theatre. His theory of art is a provocation to our theatrical expression. Witkacy wanted to play gave the experience "strangeness of existence" and the experience of oneness with the source of existence in the dynamic tension to the fears of modern man. We accomplish this by such a harmonious combination of all elements present, to form a new metaphysical value - "unity in diversity."
